Sundance’s ski season generally begins at the very end or very beginning of the new year. The resort is waiting on the first big snowstorm to open the slopes, and this usually happens right around Christmas, though when conditions are right, Sundance will start making snow in early December. Between Christmas and New Years, the slopes are at their most crowded. Everyone wants to get on the slopes after being off of them for almost a year! But these first weeks of snow are pretty magical, and if you can stand the crowds, you will have a wonderful time. The Sundance Film Festival in January packs the resort with stars and Hollywood Players, but leaves the slopes happily sparse as everyone spends their days in screenings! The regular season runs from mid-January to mid-March, with the end of March and beginning of April coming together for the last hurrah of the season.
