Sundance is famous for its skiing, but it’s a household name because of the Sundance Film Festival. Robert Redford founded the film festival in 1978 with Gary Allison in effort to bring more filmmakers to beautiful Utah, and boy were they successful. What started out as a small affair for indie filmmakers is now an exciting event that transplants half of Hollywood for a week each January. The festival is actually in Park City, but Sundance is the heart of the festival, with many festival guests choosing to stay at the resort. The resort also plays host to some screenings and special events during festival week. Tickets to the festival can be hard to come by, but it’s certainly not impossible for non-industry folks to attend screenings.
